Initial Behavioural Consultation

Initial Consultation: £250

Follow On Hour: £60-£125 depending on what the veterinary behaviourist suggests is required

Follow On Half Hour: £30-£75, depending on what the veterinary behaviourist suggests is required.

Our initial assessment can be conducted at our centre or remotely online. We encourage family members to participate in this session. This consultation helps us better understand the emotions driving your dog’s problem behaviour so we are able to make a behavioural diagnosis.

Tailored Behavioural Modification Plan

Based on the initial assessment, we will create a comprehensive Behavioural Modification Plan. This plan outlines practical steps to address and improve your dog’s behaviour. Behavioural issues can be complex, so our veterinary behaviourist may recommend a support package to help ensure long-term success.

Commitment to Consistency

Following the plan will require consistency, but we aim to make the training enjoyable for both you and your dog. The time it takes to reach your goals depends on the depth of your dog’s habits and your commitment, but remember—even old dogs can learn new tricks!

Medication and Treatment

If medication is recommended, its effectiveness will rely on following the Behavioural Modification Plan closely. Your veterinary behaviourist will communicate directly with your primary vet for all prescriptions and treatment plans.

Behavioural Questionnaire

Once we’ve received both your vet’s referral and your application form, you’ll be emailed a behavioural questionnaire. This questionnaire should be completed and returned before the assessment, allowing us to focus your session on diagnosis and planning. Our veterinary behaviourist will be available to contact you on Tuesdays or Wednesdays to schedule your appointment, once we have received all necessary forms.

Separation Related Behaviours Footage

If your dog struggles with separation-related behaviours, sharing video footage of their behaviour while you’re away can be extremely helpful. Simply set up a video camera (such as your smartphone) to capture your dog’s actions in your absence. Please avoid obtaining any unnecessary footage that may cause your dog distress.

  • Aggressive or defensive behaviour towards other dogs

Book Your Dog’s Assessment

Ready to take the next step? To book a behavioural assessment for your dog, simply fill out our Application Form.

Please note: A referral from your primary vet is required before the assessment can be arranged. Your vet can contact us directly or complete our Vet Referral Form.

For Vets: Referrals

We require a referral from the patient’s primary veterinary surgeon before we can provide behavioural services. This ensures the patient is treated in line with their medical history and current health needs.

How to Make a Referral

To refer a patient, please fill out our Vet Referral Form and provide the full clinical history, including any relevant lab results, surgeries, x-rays, and current medications. Our Vet Behaviourist will only address the behavioural concerns and will refer any health-related issues back to you for ongoing management and treatment.

Medication and Reports

If psychoactive medications are recommended, we will consult with you for approval. You’ll also receive a copy of the initial behavioural report for your records. We believe in ongoing support, so most clients will receive regular follow-up sessions until the behaviour is resolved.
