1-2-1 guidance for optimal flyball technique and speed.

Class Overview

Welcome to our 1-2-1 Flyball Training

Fast, Fun Flyball 121s at Sussex County Dog Training are designed to help you and your dog become flyball experts. Due to the nature of the sport, these 121s are suited for dogs over 6 months old. Suitable for dogs who are beginner or competition-level, our sessions are designed to meet your and your dog’s needs and goals.

Engaging in one-to-one flyball lessons offers tailored benefits for both the dog and their owner. Firstly, personalised attention allows for individualised instruction and training plans that cater to the unique abilities and needs of the dog.

This customised approach ensures efficient progress and effective problem-solving, addressing specific challenges such as timing, technique, or motivation with precision and care. Additionally, one-to-one sessions provide a focused environment for learning, minimising distractions and allowing for concentrated practice and skill development. Owners can receive personalised guidance on handling techniques, timing cues, and strategies to maximise their dog’s performance in flyball. Furthermore, the bond between dog and owner is strengthened through collaborative learning and teamwork, fostering trust, communication, and mutual enjoyment of the sport.

Overall, participating in one-to-one flyball lessons enhances the dog’s athletic abilities, strengthens the human-canine relationship, and promotes a fun, rewarding activity that provides physical exercise and mental stimulation for both.

Have a question in mind?

Frequently Asked Question

  • What age does my dog need to be to have a Flyball 121?

Due to the nature of the sport, we can accommodate for small breed dogs from 6 months, large breed dogs from 8 months and giant breed dogs from 10 months. This is to protect their joints as they grow.

  • Can I do 121s just for fun or can I compete?

You can join for fun or to compete. We have our competition team called Sussex Screamers which you can progress to or you can focus on 121s for fun.

  • What do I need to bring with me?

Flat collar, harness or head collar and lead. Please don’t bring extender leads, slip leads or choke chains.

Good quality treats such as cheese, JR pate, chicken or other soft meaty treats – not their normal kibble. Treats can be purchased at the centre or by visiting www.naturalchoicepetfoods.co.uk where you can use the ‘pick up’ option at the checkout so they’re ready to collect before your session.

Poo bags – Just in case!

    Small blanket/bed

Favourite toy/tuggy & a filled Kong – your dog will need something to keep them busy when your trainer is explaining the exercises!

Please make sure you wear suitable clothes and shoes for these sessions, pockets or a treat bag (treat bags also available at the centre) are essential.

Please feel free to bring your own water and your dog’s water bowl unless you are happy for your dog to use the shared communal bowls.

  • How many people can come to training?

We think it’s really important that the whole family can be involved in your Dog Training. If you have any family members who wish to come along, please feel free to bring them along. You can attend with up to four people, including children. Please make sure an adult always accompanies children.

  • Where do I meet my trainer?

After you arrive, please head to our reception/shop and let a member of our team know you’re here. There are benches out the front where you can wait or you can browse the shop and your trainer will find you.
